Effortless Everyday Riding with Impressive Range
The Tunturi eMotion is a versatile electric-assisted hybrid bike. Testing the bike was easy, as it simply had to be tried almost everywhere. The bike especially impressed with how easy it is to use.
The bike features an integrated lock, and the same key also fits the battery lock. The battery can be easily removed to take indoors for charging — or simply to keep it safe from theft. The battery capacity is good. When riding with the lightest Eco assist mode, the display shows a range well over 100 kilometers!
Tunturi’s advertising even mentions a more impressive figure:
“With one charge you can ride up to 185 km. The assist mode and capacity/distance are based on Shimano’s original test results, using an 80 kg rider cycling at 23 km/h on a flat road.
Under summer conditions, a commuter with a 10-kilometer ride to work would only need to charge the bike once a week.
In addition to the motor’s Eco assist level, there are two other assist modes: Normal and High.
Shimano Power Meets Finnish Simplicity
The Tunturi eMotion’s components are quality parts from Shimano. The motor is a Shimano STEPS unit, designed especially for urban cycling, and it performs flawlessly even under an 85-kg test rider. The disc brakes are firm enough to bring the bike to a stop in a reasonable distance, even from higher speeds.
The front suspension fork softens road bumps, and when the road smooths out, the suspension can be locked out — allowing pedaling power to transfer more efficiently to the wheels. Mudguards help keep the rider clean from splashes.
The test bike was practically new, so the gears shifted crisply and precisely. The display unit, typical for e-bikes, is bright and easy to read. Control of the bike’s and display’s functions is handled via left-hand switches. The control logic is reminiscent of old Nokia phones — you move up and down through the menu using buttons to access the desired information. The screen brightness is sufficient even on sunny days, and the numbers are large enough that a test rider with early signs of presbyopia can operate it without reading glasses.
Everyday Test Ride
The Tunturi eMotion was put to the test in everyday use. Thanks to its good equipment, it was pleasant to ride to the store — the sturdy kickstand and solid rear rack made it practical for daily errands. The rack’s durability and the bike frame’s strength were tested by giving a ride to the tester’s daughter (40 kg) on the back. The effect on handling and motor assistance was minimal — this is a stable and reliable bike!
This time, the test ride did not include a single long-distance trip. However, even with the slightly upright riding position, the bike handles longer rides comfortably as well. The adjustable stem allows for easy fine-tuning of the riding position to suit the rider’s preference.

Stable, Practical, and Stylish
Although the bike is fairly heavy — around 25 kilograms — it is surprisingly nimble. If you need to make a U-turn on a narrow walkway, it’s easily done. Thanks to its short wheelbase, even taking the bike onto a commuter train is effortless.
The eMotion left a very positive overall impression. Its good equipment makes it easy to use, which means you’ll naturally end up using it often. The built-in lights also make riding in the dark convenient. For everyday errands — like going to the post office — the eMotion quickly became the obvious choice. On short distances, it saved time, gave your brain some oxygen, and simply lifted the mood by turning chores into short rides.
Also available in a low-step frame version, the Tunturi eMotion is reasonably priced, coming in at under €3,000. It will likely find its place in the garages of many company bike users as well. The Tunturi eMotion is a classically stylish bike — without flashy technical gimmicks — offering instead reliability and ease of cycling.

FAQ
The best e-bike depends on your use. Aim for a 50–80 km range, a reliable motor, and practical accessories (lights, racks) for commuting—a mid-drive motor and suspension help for hills or mixed terrain.
Most e-bikes use pedal-assist (PAS) systems. Sensors detect your pedaling and engage the motor to add power. Some also include throttles. Motors (mid-drive or hub) deliver power based on assist levels. You control the amount via the display panel.
It typically takes 4–7 hours to fully charge, depending on battery capacity, charger quality, and usage. Fast-charging systems may reduce this time, but always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Most e-bike batteries are rated for 500–1000 complete charge cycles. Moderate use and proper care often mean 2–5 years of useful life.
Yes, you can pedal an e-bike like a traditional bike when the electronics are off or the battery runs out.
In many EU countries, electric bikes (up to 250 W, pedal-assist) are treated as ordinary bicycles and do not require a license, registration, or insurance. But if your motorcycle exceeds local thresholds (power, speed), different rules may apply. Always check local regulations.
Many modern e-bikes are designed with water-resistant components (IP-rated) and can handle light rain or wet roads. However, to protect electrical parts, avoid submerging connectors, using high-pressure water jets, or riding in heavy downpours.
Yes, you can, but remember that cold temperatures reduce battery range. To care for the battery, store and charge it indoors at room temperature.
The electric bike must not be washed with a pressure washer, especially its electronic parts! If your electric bike is very dirty, we recommend cleaning larger dirt from the tires using water from the hose, avoiding pouring water directly on the motor and battery, and then cleaning the remaining parts of the bike with a damp cloth. Finally, the motor and battery should be dried with a soft cloth. It would also be good to oil the chain afterwards.

Always wear shoes when riding your bicycle. DO NOT wear high heels when riding a bike. Never ride barefoot.
⚠️ WARNING! You risk losing traction when braking hard, which can cause serious injury. Always look ahead for potential hazards and ride at a moderate speed. Braking distances increase with wet weather.
⚠️WARNING! The electric bicycle is subject to stress and wear, as with any mechanical component. Different materials and components age and wear differently. If the expected service life of an element is exceeded, it may break unexpectedly, causing injury to the user. Cracks, scratches, and discoloration indicate that a part under high stress has exceeded its service life and should be replaced. Such latent defects are checked during regular maintenance. At the same time, the user must also watch for such defects and service the wheel if necessary.
