FAQ

FAQ

Which e-bike is best?

The best e-bike depends on your use. Aim for a 50–80 km range, a reliable motor, and practical accessories (lights, racks) for commuting—a mid-drive motor and suspension help for hills or mixed terrain.

How does an electric bike motor work?

Most e-bikes use pedal-assist (PAS) systems. Sensors detect your pedaling and engage the motor to add power. Some also include throttles. Motors (mid-drive or hub) deliver power based on assist levels. You control the amount via the display panel.

How long does it take to charge an e-bike battery?

It typically takes 4–7 hours to fully charge, depending on battery capacity, charger quality, and usage. Fast-charging systems may reduce this time, but always follow the manufacturer's instructions.

What is the typical battery lifespan?

Most e-bike batteries are rated for 500–1000 complete charge cycles. Moderate use and proper care often mean 2–5 years of useful life.

Can you ride an e-bike without the motor?

Yes, you can pedal an e-bike like a traditional bike when the electronics are off or the battery runs out.

Do you need a license to ride an e-bike?

In many EU countries, electric bikes (up to 250 W, pedal-assist) are treated as ordinary bicycles and do not require a license, registration, or insurance. But if your motorcycle exceeds local thresholds (power, speed), different rules may apply. Always check local regulations.

Can electric bikes get wet?

Many modern e-bikes are designed with water-resistant components (IP-rated) and can handle light rain or wet roads. However, to protect electrical parts, avoid submerging connectors, using high-pressure water jets, or riding in heavy downpours.

Can I ride my electric bicycle in winter?

Yes, you can, but remember that cold temperatures reduce battery range. To care for the battery, store and charge it indoors at room temperature.

How to clean my e-bike?

The electric bike must not be washed with a pressure washer, especially its electronic parts! If your electric bike is very dirty, we recommend cleaning larger dirt from the tires using water from the hose, avoiding pouring water directly on the motor and battery, and then cleaning the remaining parts of the bike with a damp cloth. Finally, the motor and battery should be dried with a soft cloth. It would also be good to oil the chain afterwards.

Safety and Warnings

Warnings

⚠️ WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions might lead to serious injury.

DO NOT submerge any bicycle components in water. Water entering any of the electric components can cause permanent damage to the bicycle.

DO NOT ride the bicycle if it has been damaged.

DO NOT drive up or down stairs, or jump off or over obstacles.

DO NOT store your bicycle at temperatures lower than 10°C.

DO NOT touch the motor or the brake disc after riding, since it may get hot.

DO NOT use your mobile phone while operating the bicycle.

DO NOT ride your bicycle with only one hand or take both hands off the handlebars.

DO NOT exceed the maximum load limit of the bicycle.

DO NOT ride the bicycle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

DO NOT attach heavy or loose items to the handlebars, as this will affect your ability to control the bicycle.

DO NOT modify your bicycle or use accessories or additional items not approved by the manufacturer.

DO NOT place your hands or other limbs into operating bike parts, which may cause a serious injury.

Please do not use the e-bike if you believe it is not functioning correctly or might be damaged.

E-bikes sold on Voltride.com are not intended for acrobatic, commercial, or rental use.

Before riding, familiarise yourself with local traffic regulations and other legislation.

Stay alert and choose a suitable riding speed while in traffic to prevent accidents and injuries.

Make yourself visible to others by keeping the lights, reflectors, and bell in working condition. Take care of your bike and perform preventive maintenance for the best performance and durability.

You should always wear a helmet when riding a bicycle.

Always wear shoes when riding your bicycle. DO NOT wear high heels when riding a bike. Never ride barefoot.

⚠️ WARNING! You risk losing traction when braking hard, which can cause serious injury. Always look ahead for potential hazards and ride at a moderate speed. Braking distances increase with wet weather.

⚠️WARNING! The electric bicycle is subject to stress and wear, as with any mechanical component. Different materials and components age and wear differently. If the expected service life of an element is exceeded, it may break unexpectedly, causing injury to the user. Cracks, scratches, and discoloration indicate that a part under high stress has exceeded its service life and should be replaced. Such latent defects are checked during regular maintenance. At the same time, the user must also watch for such defects and service the wheel if necessary.
