How to Keep Your Electric Scooter in Top Condition 🔧
Your electric scooter will last exactly as well and as long as you take care of it. In just a few minutes, you’ll learn how to keep your scooter operational, safe, and with a valid warranty for years to come.
An electric scooter is a fantastic daily companion — fast, convenient, and eco-friendly. But like any vehicle, it needs regular care to stay in top condition. The following tips are based on the Voltride service team’s daily experience in scooter repair. It is a handy list for you about what the do’s and don’ts are in maintaining your scooter.
1. Before Your First Ride
Before taking your scooter for the first ride, take a few minutes to make sure everything is as it is supposed to be. For a new scooter, check that:
- All parts and accessories are included,
- There are no transport damages,
- Review the user manual for setup instructions.
Then:
- Check the tire pressure (usually 2.5–3.5 atm)
- Test the brakes
- Fully charge the battery before your first ride
- Make sure all connections, clamps, and screws are properly tightened
New scooters can get slightly loose during shipping, so take a short test ride and listen for any unusual rattles or noises.
If you need to attach any parts yourself (handlebars, front wheel, seat, pedals), make sure everything is installed exactly according to the manual and securely fastened.

2. Warranty
Warranty terms might seem like some boring fine print, but they’re designed to help your scooter last longer. The key is to protect the battery and electronics from moisture, heat, and overload — and to not exceed the maximum weight limit.
You can find full warranty details in the user manual or on Voltride’s website. The warranty can be extended with Voltride by up to 2 more years.
Note: Wear-and-tear parts (like tires, brakes, suspension, and moving components) are not covered by warranty. For example, riding with half-empty tires without checking pressure and bursting a tube as a result is not a warranty case.
Battery Care to Keep the Warranty Valid
- Don’t ride until the battery is fully drained or let it sit empty for long periods.
- After each ride, let the scooter rest for 20–30 minutes before charging.
- Never leave the scooter or battery charging unattended.
- Don’t store the battery for long periods 100% full or completely empty. For storage, keep it at around 50–70% charged and top up every 2–3 months.
- Avoid charging in cold conditions (below +5°C) or when wet.
- Store the scooter and battery at room temperature in a dry place.
- Always use the original charger — never a substitute.
- Do not charge a battery that’s damaged, deformed, wet, or malfunctioning.
Mileage and Warranty Coverage
The warranty mileage limit typically ranges from 3,000 to 5,000 km, depending on the manufacturer (3,000 km if unspecified). During the warranty period, your scooter must be serviced regularly, and all maintenance is logged in Voltride’s service system.
Recommended service intervals:
- First service: after 300 km
- Next services: every 1,000 km or at least once per year
If the scooter is used for commercial purposes (rental, courier, or business use), where the load and mileage are higher, the warranty period may be shorter — check with the seller.

Water Resistance and Warranty
Each scooter has a specific IP rating (e.g., IP54, IP55, IPX6), which indicates its protection level against dust and water. Water damage is one of the most common reasons warranties are voided.
If your scooter has a low IP rating (like IPX4), avoid riding in wet conditions:
- Do not ride in rain, through puddles, mud, sand, or snow.
- Do not wash the scooter with running water or any liquids unless the manual explicitly allows it.
- Always clean the scooter using dry-cleaning methods only.
- Never use a pressure washer, submerge the scooter in water, or let it soak.
3. Regular Maintenance and Usage Tips
Regular maintenance dramatically extends your scooter’s lifespan.
If you keep up with care, you’ll reduce the risk of unexpected wear or damage.
- Check tire pressure and tread wear at least once a month.
Too low pressure wears out the tire and battery faster, and a worn tire can cause accidents. - Make sure brakes work smoothly and don’t make metallic scraping sounds.
- Inspect suspension, lights, and bell.
- Clean your scooter regularly with a soft, damp cloth — avoid high-pressure washing.
- If you notice error codes, unusual noises, looseness, vibration, or mechanical damage, stop riding and bring it to Voltride service.
